FAQs
Q. I am a trades person, how do I become a Tradesmen Direct member?
A. Click here to start your sign up process or call 0800 TDIRECT and we will talk you through the sign up process.
Q. I am a member of the public and I have a job that I need to get a quote on, how do I do this?
[Coming soon] A. Very easily, just click here, and enter your job details in the Chat area under Customer Jobs. A Tradesmen Direct member can then contact you directly. Or email or send a message to the tradeperson directly from their listing.
Q. I am thinking about becoming a Tradesmen Direct member, but want to know more about the discounts I would receive from the Tradesmen Direct partners.
A. As a Tradesmen Direct member you will receive a membership card that entitles you to discounts, vouchers, savings and specials that we have negotiated on your behalf through our partners.
When you become a member any new offers or partner ‘specials’ will be emailed to you and also updated on the partners page on this website. Taking advantage of these savings will save you more money than the cost of your membership.
Q. I am immigrating into New Zealand, can I pre-sign up from overseas?
A. Yes, and once you have signed up we will send your membership pack out to you, which includes your welcome pack and membership card and email you your membership id.
The advantages of signing up prior to arriving in New Zealand is that you can immediately obtain useful information on the Chat area [coming soon] of the website and your will find out more about your specific trade and the area of New Zealand you intend to move to.
As a member you can advertise your services and arrival date. This allows potential employers or customers to make contact with you. You can even start quoting for jobs on our website if you know when you are arriving into NZ.
You should also know we have entered into several key relationships with major partners who can offer you discounts, specials, free advice, consulation and services.

Immigration Lawyers
Lane Neave – Immigration Lawyers
Tradesmen Direct recommends and endorses immigration lawyers Lane Neave (www.laneneave.co.nz). They will look after your very best interests. Give them your membership number and they will look after you by giving you a discounted rate and ensuring that you get the best immigration advice possible.
Banking
ASB BANK
The ASB Bank (www.asbbank.co.nz) is another key partner. Sign up before you arrive in New Zealand, give them your membership number and they can ensure:
- Your bank account is ready and activated when you arrive in New Zealand.
- Provide you with a personal unsecured loan of up to $20,000 E.g. to assist with the purchase of vehicles etc.
- Waiver any commission charges on converting Foreign Currency and Traveller’s Cheques into New Zealand Dollars.

Mobile Phones
As a tradesmen direct member you have the opportunity to sign up to the Tradesmen Direct Vodafone mobile phone network called TradeTalk.
The TradeTalk network means for $30.00 per month you receive free mobile phone calls to any other Tradesmen Direct member on the Trade Talk network. A great saving. Yes, that’s right…talk as much as you want for FREE and even put your family on the network.
Just email Fran Strajnar fran.strajnar@firstmobile.co.nz or Tam Roberts tam.roberts@firstmobile.co.nz at Vodafone First Mobile or call them on 0064 9 376 9307. They can give you all the advice you need for the right mobile phone and package to suit you. Mention your Tradesmen Direct membership number and they will ensure you get the Trade Talk deal and then all your mobile to mobile calls to others on the Trade Talk network will be free.
Accountant
Gilligan Rose and Associates
Most trades people need a great accountant and they don’t come much better than Gilligan Rose and Associates (www.gra.co.nz). As a Tradesmen Direct member, you get your 1st year's accounting for FREE * and then a 10% saving every year on your normal accounting fees. When Tradesmen Direct chose an accounting firm partner, we were very selective in the selection and we chose GRA because we firmly believe they offer Tradesmen Direct members outstanding value, added benefits and huge expertise.

Manage your listing
Q. How easy is to change my contact details on the Tradesmen Direct website?
A. Very easy. We issue you with a password and you can log in anytime and change your details or you can email us, fax us or call us and we can change your details for you.
Q. How easy is it to change my availability for work on the Tradesmen Direct website?
A. Very easy. Send a text to 021 685 054 (normal text rates apply) (Just enter your membership number followed by YES or NO and the availability flag will be set accordingly) Eg Yes (available) = flag up NO (not available) = down.
This allows potential customers to see your work availability. You can also log on to the website and set the flag yourself.
